This art piece stood out to me the most because of its originality and meaning. The artist not only used abstract items, like a projector and the actual concrete slab. These two items that in result are such simplicity, tell a story that cannot be represented any other way. The artist, actually shared a story with the audience about her piece and I thought it was very meaningful.

Here, Zumpfe explains the story behind step 7. I enjoy how she uses the sidewalk as a way of expression. She explains how much it has failed her, since it’s so useless now. Yet, she expresses how wise it must be since it might have been older than her. She also explains the dilemma of how she would dig as a young child and give up, finding nothing. Now, she digs up items,  such as this slab. And this slab alone symbolizes a journey that requires a series of steps and the result is yet to be determined. Most of all, I love her quote “A period finalizes a sentence, right? As if what came before is now done, finished, fixed.” Zumpfe shows us that just because it is said to be over, doesn’t mean it’s finalized.
